Made in the same classic style since 1870. Twice distilled in a time-honored process. Exacting grain recipe of corn, rye and malted barley - rich in rye content. Old Forester is richer in rye than most bourbons. Fermented with the proprietary Old Forester yeast strain which is still grown fresh daily at the distillery. Aged in charred oak barrels. Uniquely handcrafted at the distillery's own cooperage. No other Kentucky bourbon company makes its own barrels. Bottled when Old Forester's master distiller judges the whisky ready.
Part of the Brown-Forman portfolio, Old Forester claims 150 years of distilling pedigree. But this bottle boasts much more than historical value; it's an intensely aromatic bourbon with a concentrated, complex flavor profile. The nose is rich in brown sugar, caramel, and candied fruit aromas, while the alcohol integrates seamlessly on the palate among notes of honey, vanilla, and cedarwood. This is a nuanced bourbon that tastes considerably more expensive than its modest price tag.
Fragrant with cinnamon, floral clover honey, and sweet dried fruit notes. Flavorful: lots of oak, a generous dose of toffee, toasty nutmeg and allspice, finishing with a big bite. Reminiscent of dark gingerbread. Medium body, pleasant, a touch astringent.
