Croix Boissée is Baudry's top bottling; it comes from very old vines on gravel and sandy soils with a layer of white limestone subsoil that gives the wine that unique mineral backbone and structural depth that sets many of the world's greatest wines apart. The 2021 has an astonishing purity and a lovely buoyed lightness of crushed berry fruit and complex savory notes. Herbs, spice, smoke, sandalwood, and violets are backed by a core of tensile saline minerality. This is one of the greatest expressions of Cab Franc in the entire Loire and costs considerably less than many of its peers; it's one of the smartest buys out there!
