Now is the perfect time to discover Cristian Boffa, the next big talent of Barolo. Boffa’s wines come from one of the great communes beside the great epicentre of Barolo itself: La Morra. Here, in the ‘borgata’ of Santa Maria, young Cristian works his magic in a properly authentic ‘garagista’ setting. Here he fashions beautiful wines in a fragrant, haunting style, not unlike that of his mentor Luigi Oddero. This is a very elegant Nebbiolo, with notes of geranium and violet, and good tannicity on the palate.
