From what is considered Schiava's grand cru, the hamlet of Santa Maddalena, Franz Gojer is the wizard of all things Lagrein and Schiava (locally known as Vernatsch). "Vigna Rondell" is their most prized vineyard, producing a densely structured red that offers notes of cherry with a fleshy and spicy edge. The firm tannins and nice acidity make for a perfectly ageable wine, but we don't blame you if you drink it tonight.
