Giovanni and Massimo Duri are the 4th and 5th generation winemakers making wine in the village of Prepotto in the Colli Orientali region on easternmost hills of Friuli. This is where Refosco's native home lies. It thrives in poor, calcareous-clay soils and on hillside slopes. Aromas of Black fruit, dried cherries, violets, star anise, sawdust and a savory meatiness burst out of the glass. Firm and plump tannins, bright acidity and a pleasant bitterness at the finish make this a perfect food wine.
