Made with Nebbiolo Canavesano grapes (a Nebbiolo clone), this Nebbiolo is aged in oak barrels and amphorae to produce a softly tannic and elegant wine. Flavors of red cherry, violet, and black pepper stand out in this really well-balanced floral and fruity wine that we get from a tiny little importer out of Buffalo!
Made from the rare Nebbiolo Picotener biotype, this Canavese spends seven months in 7.5hl amphorae then three months in 25hl and 50hl oak barrels, followed by 12 months in bottle. Woody and sous bois notes emanate from the glass, then hints of herbs and some ripe hedgerow berries. In the mouth it has good concentration and a broad shape, with juicy, tobacco-infused red fruits leading to a fresh, tannic finish. A more savoury character compared to the estate's other Canavese, but also bigger, and full of spicy, herbal complexity.
