The Chardonnay for this wine comes from an estate vineyard that was planted in the early 1980's. The Chardonnay block is on the middle section of their gently sloping vineyard, which rises 600-800 feet above Seneca Lake and is surrounded by Finger Lakes National Forest. Aged on the lees in a mix of puncheons and stainless steel, this is Maconnais-styled Chardonnay, offering bright florals, fleshy texture and subtle minerality. I loved the amplitude on this. It tastes of acacia, green apple, spiced pear and wet stone.
