Mosel Fine Wines: 93 Points
The 2021er Marienburg GG, as it is referred to on the main part of the label, was fermented spontaneously in traditional oak casks. It proves rather shy and restrained at first but quickly delivers its complexity and freshness as notes of minty herbs, smoke, anise, greengage, and lime come through. The wine has great presence and a superb structure on the palate and leaves a spicy and herbal feel in the very long and smoky finish. The aftertaste is still sharp at this early stage, so patience is needed for this little beauty to mellow away its acidity. 2025-2036.

Assembled just a few days before my tasting in July, the barrel sample of 2021 Marienburg GG shows clear, bright and fresh, just-ripe fruit (white peach) combined with a spicy slate tone. In the mouth, it's delicate, light and elegant yet juicy. This is a light, bright type of Marienburg. Classic, very delicate style

I love the white peach and ripe apple aromas that pour from this sleek and crisp, but very well balanced riesling GG. Long, quite pointed finish that will please riesling fans who remember the wines of the 1970s and 1980s. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink or hold.
