When Hervé Fabre first emigrated from Bordeaux to Mendoza in the late ‘80s, he was surprised to find that nearly every other investor in Mendoza’s wine renaissance was buying undeveloped land and planting new vineyards. They were ignoring the old vineyards of head-trained Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon that had been established a hundred years earlier by French immigrants. His Gran Reserva is a black, deep, purple-fruited knockout. Made with vines up to 100 years old, this is a big red with power and finesse.
