Here’s an incredible bargain from the Veneto, made like Amarone (appassimento method, where the grapes are dried on wooden racks for months to concentrate their flavors), but from a somewhat different grape blend (Corvina, yes, but also Merlot) – and at a fraction the price. It’s a wine that’s both incredibly sumptuous on its own – but also wonderfully versatile with food. There’s just so much more flavor, concentration and sheer delicious, voluptuous flavor than anyone would ever expect from a wine at this price.
