The name ‘Poruzots' originates from the word ‘Porroux' which means ‘stony place' in the local patois. It refers to the chalky terroir that confers a particular minerality and tautness to this premier cru. Jean-François Germain vinifies his Meursault cuvées with real pizazz. A pro when it comes to low-intervention, he adds no commercial yeast to his wine, uses very few new casks, and doesn't stir (a rarity in the region!). This wine has a pale, yellow colour in the glass that takes on a golden hue as the cuvée evolves. Lively, chiselled and stripped down, this cuvée has a nose that intrigues. On the palate, it has citrus and perfectly integrated bitter notes. This fine wine will become yet more defined as it ages, and you can count on around ten years in terms of ageing.
