Arneis, once nicknamed “White Barolo,” is the comeback kid of Piemonte–it was on the verge of extinction in the 1970s but, thanks to a handful of dedicated wineries, it has made an impressive recovery. Angelo Negro’s Unfiltered Bianco is a playful expression of Arneis. Racked directly from tank to bottle, this cloudy, natural wine sees no filtration, making it without peer in Piedmont. In the glass, this thirst quenching white offers chalky minerality, with flavors of lemon, white flowers and lime. It’s a great day-drinking wine thanks to its low alcohol content. Try pairing it with scallops in lemon sauce or with roast vegetables.
