A very special strain of Serine (related to Syrah) of brilliant intensity. It represents only a few rows of a plot of old vines in Ardèche, which ferment to low alcohol even at full maturation. Le Clau is an aromatic explosion of black pepper, violets, green olives, and smoked meats. Vivid black fruit aromas with earth, mint, and garrigue emerge as the wine opens up. This is an extraordinary wine that is great fun to taste now but 5 years in the cellar, and perhaps much longer, should create something quite unique.
