Here's an incredible bargain in white Burgundy. Les Chevrières is one of the top vineyards in the commune of Chaintré, and is also one that was recently awarded 1er Cru status, starting with the 2020 vintage. Cornin farms organically a plot that was planted in 1963, producing Chardonnay that is gorgeous, with notes of meyer lemon, apple, pear, lovely depth of flavor, and a long, creamy, refreshing finish.

Cornin opted to bottle his 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Chevrières without filtration, but the resulting wine is a touch turbid. Offering up aromas of white flowers, pear, citrus oil and fresh mint, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with tangy acids and chalky structure, but it sacrifices a bit of precision due to its turbidity. That's a pity because the raw materials are more than compelling.
